But What Can We Do To Stand Up For Democracy?

One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.
~ President John F. Kennedy

Periodically, someone reads my writing inspiring action ... encouraging us to reclaim our authority as sovereign citizens, stand up for democracy and against the pirates who want to do it harm ... and they reply, “OK, yeah, but what can we do?”

My short answer is ... reclaiming our power IS the first action. To step out of our powerlessness and passivity, and stand in our power. There is no app for this, no button to push and it all gets done. There is much that we can do, and plenty of small actions if you need to start there.  But it starts with standing up. Something changes when we do that.

Something changes in us.

And there are many allies and groups we can align with. We are not alone.

What Can We Do to Help Reverse Climate Change NOW?

We have to understand the emergency of the situation. Our leadership has failed us.…
We need to get angry, and transform that anger into action.
~ Greta Thunberg, Swedish teenager taking action to stop global climate change

As predicted, we're having more and more extreme weather events worldwide. As bad as it is now, this will continue getting worse unless and until we take responsibility for our collective actions and reverse climate change. If we can do it before the climate becomes too broken, which is coming soon.

So let's act as if our house were at risk of being burned or flooded, and our neighbors’. Let's act as if the well-being of all that we love is at stake. Because it is.

So What Can We Do?

Books have been written. But I'll put out some ideas to get you started.

Some Quick & Easy Evidence For Climate Change

Climate change is the environmental challenge of this generation,
and it is imperative that we act before it's too late.
~ John Delane (Md-D), House of Representatives

Too often, when we seek to express concern or act to address human-induced climate change, some misinformed person will respond with misinformation and we sigh at having to prove it all once again.

So to help folks skip that effort, I've created this handy summary page of the key facts proving the problem of climate change (aka climate disruption)

So now you can refer them here, or to specific links here. Or read the links to inform your own riffs.  Then move on to better use of your time ... such as joining together in constructive action to steer us away from the path of destruction!

The 2016 Election: Not One Senator Stood

I wrote this poem to express my outrage at what happened at a key juncture in the official 2016 election process.

There is a moment when it is the job of the Congress to either certify (confirm) that the election was done 100% fairly ... or step back to evaluate if it had process issues.

This step was put into the process to help ensure fair elections.

At this stage in January 2017, for the November 2016 election, there was notable evidence for concern about issues in the election process ... enough to warrant a pause to consider them .. for the Congress not to just a rubber stamp the results.

A number of U.S. Representatives called for this pause. But we needed a Senator too. And none stepped forward. This is my experience of this and what it meant.

Not One Senator Stood

Not one Senator stood
When the world hung in balance
And the cruel legislators drooled
At the tasty snack of our democracy
And the vain figurehead fool
Strutted, doing just as the
Puppetmasters directed
Thinking it proved him king
